To empower means to provide opportunity for developing and acquiring skills for problem solving and managing difficult situations we all confront on our paths.

In CONCORDIA Bulgaria we aim to create a structured environment in which the people we support can be calm and less anxious. Here we teach them how to express their opinion openly and adequately and what to do in order to exercise their rights. Our ultimate goal is for the children, youths and families we support to become independent, to develop skills and to gain confidence that they can be accepted and worthy members of our society.

The path to reach this goal is long. It goes from basic human needs and rights – providing food, health care, shelter, education and employment. It moves further through changing attitudes and developing the skill for tolerance towards differences in our society.

The children, youths and families we work with have been living in extreme poverty for generations. The reasons behind every single case are different. Everyone, who finds themselves in a tough life situation, needs a hand and a second chance. In CONCORDIA we always give a hand and a second chance. We do this with the support of many friends, partners and donors.

For us it is important for everyone to fulfill their roles – children to go to school and parents to have a job so they can take care of their children, love and educate them. For youths to learn to work and become socially responsible adults. For society to be aware, understanding, supportive and responsible towards others. Because living in a healthy society depends on each one of us.
