Community based intervention
An African proverb wisely says: “It takes a village to raise a child”.
It is our opinion that children and young people need to grow up and enjoy the support of their families and vital communities around them. This enables them to feel accepted, encourages active participation and development within society. In the communities we implement both our outreach social program where social workers visits and supports families in their homes and our daycare programs and activities where we offer needs-based support.
The major areas of our work are: medical, psychological, educational support and food, clothes and shelter. We work mainly with marginalized communities many of which are Roma situated in Sofia and rural areas. We provide support by ensuring that people have access to existing resources which are essential to vulnerable groups. We work actively with local authorities, non-government organizations and businesses who can become donors and partners. In this way we manage to provide the most adequate and socially sustainable care to children, youths and families in need.
