The Family center “CONCORDIA” of CONCORDIA Bulgaria Foundation is located in the village of Malki Iskar in Etropole Municipality. It has a capacity of 100 children between the ages of 0 and 14 who live in extreme poverty. This is our first center outside of Sofia and we aim at reaching people living in inequality outside of the capital because there are plenty and the need for support is big.

In Family center “CONCORDIA” Malki Iskar people in need can receive support for a period of 6 months. They can come to us voluntarily and receive access to public services as per their needs. They can also be referred by the Child Protection Department or the Municipality in which case they receive services in accordance with their recommendation.

In the center we aim to support people from vulnerable groups from Malki Iskar and other villages in the area. In our work our priorities are educational support and prevention from dropping out from school. We provide access to medical services and interest-based activities. We also have a candle making atelier. We cover for basic needs such as food, bathing and clothing.

The goal of our work in the Family center “CONCORDIA” Malki Iskar is to provide better opportunities for socializing and child development, to motivate the parents to take care of their children within the family environment, to prevent child abandonment and placing children in social institutions.

In Family center “CONCORDIA” Malki Iskar we provide the following social services with license from the Bulgarian Agency for Quality of Social Services:

• Informing and consulting
• Advocacy and mediation
• Therapy and rehabilitation
• Community work
• Shelter
